Serving Guidance by Age Stage

6-8mo

Serving shape/size: Well-cooked scrambled egg in soft curds, or a hard-boiled yolk mashed with breastmilk/formula/water.

Choking-risk notes: Avoid runny or undercooked egg. Introduce a small amount first and watch for a reaction before offering a full portion.

Safe prep: Cook thoroughly until no liquid egg remains. Start with just the yolk if introducing whole egg for the first time is a concern, then move to whole egg.

9-11mo

Serving shape/size: Scrambled egg pieces, mini frittata fingers, or hard-boiled egg quartered.

Choking-risk notes: Dry, rubbery overcooked egg can be harder to swallow — keep it moist.

Safe prep: Mix with a little yogurt or avocado to keep it soft.

12-18mo

Serving shape/size: Any well-cooked form: omelette strips, boiled egg halves, egg muffins.

Choking-risk notes: Low risk when fully cooked.

Safe prep: No special prep beyond thorough cooking.

18mo+

Serving shape/size: Any cooked egg preparation the family eats.

Choking-risk notes: Minimal risk.

Safe prep: No special prep required.
